Mason / Banksman - Rigger

Jairam Building Contractor is accepting applications from suitably qualified Caymanians and persons legally entitled to work in the Cayman Islands through residency or marriage for the position of Mason/Banksman-Rigger. The successful applicant will perform masonry duties while supporting crane and rigging operations on active construction sites. The individual must be able to communicate effectively with mobile and tower crane operators using approved hand signals and radio communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of masonry work (block laying, plastering & concrete work)
• Assist with large concrete pours and other general construction activities
• Guide mobile & tower crane operators using proper hand signals and clear radio

communication

• Assist with the safe rigging, lifting, positioning and movement of materials and

equipment

• Inspect lifting accessories and rigging equipment before use
• Ensure loads are properly secured and lifting areas remain clear
• Follow all site safety procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions
• Work effectively with crane operators, supervisors and other members of the

site team

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in masonry and general construction work
• Demonstrated knowledge of banksman and rigging procedures
• Ability to give accurate crane hand signals and communicate clearly by radio
• Knowledge of safe lifting practices and construction-site safety procedures
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor conditions
• Must be reliable, punctual, hardworking and able to follow instructions
• Must be willing to work variable hours as project requirements dictate
