Animal Keeper/ Maintenance

We are searching for an honest and reliable Animal Keeper/ Maintenance to join our team. The Animal Keeper/ Maintenance responsibilities include keeping detailed records of all charges, preparing and delivering food and clean water, reporting animal irregularities and health issues, and administering medication. You should be strong and fit and able to exercise caution when dealing with all animals. The Animal Keeper/ Maintenance should be ultra observant and able to manage animals without being squeamish. Outstanding candidates are hardworking, driven by passion, and unafraid to get their hands dirty.

Animal Keeper/ Maintenance Responsibilities

• Check animals daily and monitor their health and behaviour
• Animals sitting when the owner are on vacation
• clean out kennels, enclosures, cages or stables
• prepare food and help out at feeding times
• clean and groom animals
• exercise animals regularly
• look after sick or distressed animals
• update records and deal with questions from colleagues or the public
• In a pet shop, you would also:
• give advice to customers on products and pet care
• manage product displays
• maintain stock levels and deal with deliveries
• check water temperatures and chemical balance in fish tanks
• handle payments
