Job Description

Specification of Core Function The Cayman Chief Risk Officer and Deputy CEO has the responsibility for implementing and running a robust, risk framework strategy aligned with the risk appetite defined by the Board of Directors of EFGI and for embedding the specificities of the local regulators. In addition, the role supports the CEO with responsibility for the governance of the entity and alignment with group requirements overseeing the unit’s financial health, accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making; developing a positive work environment consistent with the bank’s values; and helping to ensure all operations are compliant with Cayman and Swiss regulations. In this senior management role, will provide direction and leadership towards the achievement of mission, strategy, goals and objectives. Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support CEO with strategic leadership initiatives, operational oversight, financial oversight, stakeholder management, policy & governance, performance monitoring, change management and growth initiatives.
  • Responsible for continuously leading the development, review, adjustment and daily operation of the branch’s risk framework and risk appetite metrics, in line with Group Risk Strategy, Standards, Policies and Regional Board guidelines.
  • In line with the three line of defence model, ensure, in cooperation with the First Line of Defence organization, that the Internal Control System for Cayman is properly designed and in place for both Business and non-Business functions (IT, Operations, Finance, etc.) with the aim to ensure that residual risks stay within the EFG group’s defined Risk Appetite.
  • Responsible for financial planning, budget management, financial strategy support, systems and process improvements. Serve as Liaison with Regional CFO.
  • Develop and maintain a robust issues management program to actively identify, assess, track and report on issues from all risk areas, including business self-identified issues, compliance identified issues, internal and external audit issues, regulator identified issues for the region.
  • Oversee Governance related matters for the Cayman Branch and ensure that the organization and related entities operate within approved policies and procedures and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate the team to support the internal and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure a sound governance framework that supports the bank’s risk culture effectively.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 15 years of previous and relevant work experience.
  • Broad knowledge of banking, broker dealer and investment services.
  • Excellent understanding of Risk Management and Controls, Finance, Crisis Management, risk assessment, issues management, internal auditing, fraud prevention, corporate compliance, IT security.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with different Second Line heads and senior management to represent all relevant viewpoints.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and at least one European language in addition.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills – abilities to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and apply sound business and technical domain knowledge.
  • Strong Management skills with 10 years of previous and relevant work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to effectively coach, mentor and grow a team.
