Kennel Worker/Dog Walker Love Your Dog is looking for an energetic and skilled dog handler to care for clients’ dogs at our pet care facility.
Responsibilities
Safely transporting pets to/from their residence to our pet care facility and other locations in the community for exercise.
Monitor social time in play yards.
Learn the names and common behaviors of each dog and manage them accordingly.
Use basic obedience commands for manners reminders and dog handling.
Detect and discourage overly excited, aggressive, or inappropriate behaviour.
Ensure dogs are safe when being exercised and socialized during playtime.
Report issues or bad behavior to manager/trainer.
Report injuries or health related issues to manager and front desk.
Reward dogs for good behaviour.
Discourage jumping, pulling on leash, overly excited, barking, growling, aggression, etc.
Communicate with pet owners on the day’s activities.
Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting the kennels and indoor/outdoor facilities ensuring all areas are clean and sanitary and bins are emptied regularly.
Maintain a clean and well-kept facility.
Feed dogs and keep them healthy.
Clean up and dispose of pet eliminations
Must have reliable means to get to work.
Qualifications
Proven experience working as a Kennel Worker/Dog Walker.
The ability to handle different breeds and sizes of dogs.
The ability to work with minimal supervision.
The ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
