Job Description

Under the guidance and supervision of the Principal, and in close collaboration with the Deputy Principal, Heads of Infants and Juniors, classroom teachers, and SENCos, you will be responsible for providing pastoral services, including confidential counselling, to the school community comprising children, families, and staff; ensuring all required school safeguarding and child protection measures are in place and carrying out other professional duties and responsibilities of a teacher as outlined in the subsequent sections.

  • Providing specialist and confidential counsel inclusive of social, emotional, and personal support, advice, and help to all members of the school community within individual and group settings
  • Implementing an efficient and effective system of recognizing, recording, reporting, and referring cases where school-based counselling, inclusive of those requiring external provision, is required or has been provided
  • Liaising with external agencies and ensuring confidentiality and support are maintained
  • Leading the effective development and precise delivery of an inclusive PSHE curriculum that supports all children, which promotes a clear and shared school identity, and reflects an understanding of the diverse cultural, social, and personal backgrounds within the school community
  • Supporting teaching and non-teaching staff with augmenting the delivery of the school’s PSHE curriculum to ensure consistency, continuity and clarity of the school’s PSHE approach
  • Leading the school community in developing and implementing a behaviour policy through a variety of media including assemblies, newsletters, workshops, and PD/training events
  • Co-ordinating and leading case conferences involving all relevant stakeholders
  • Maintaining a current and accurate live database to manage, track, and evaluate support provided to children, particularly to those with special education needs and disabilities
  • Developing, maintaining, and operating a live system for tracking daily behaviours within the school
  • Establishing a system and providing targeted and individualized support of staff well-being and mental health
  • Carrying out assigned duties during nonteaching times of the day such as playtime, lunch duty, and providing voluntary extra-curricular activities or clubs, which must be held after school.
  • In collaboration with members of the PLT, leading and/or attending all required school meetings, events, and parent/teacher conferences inclusive of those held outside of the regular school day
  • Assist with various duties as assigned by the Principal and in accordance with the needs of the school, including covering classes in cases of staff absence
  • Leading all safeguarding meetings and trainings required by the school and Cayman regulations.
